The fun just keeps on going around here. Swimming lessons finished up this week, leaving us with a more relaxed schedule with just Kung Fu and Soccer for extracurricular activites for the time being. To make up for that, events aligned to make this weekend the busiest on record. Thursday, between their final swimming lesson and Laine's martial arts lesson, we squeezed in a visit to the Utah Arts Festival. The kids had a ball drinking Maui Wowies, playing in the children's art yard, and checking out the artists' booths. Then it was rush back to get Laine to class while I prepped snacks for her soccer game that evening, you know, the game right after Eve's game.
On Friday, the Bradleys held their family reunion at Seven Peaks Resort. We spent the whole day at the water park. The kids had a million fun riding the tube rides, sliding down the water slides, swimming in the Lazy River, splashing in the kiddie pools, riding the floating alligator, body surfing in the wave pool, and having the time of their lives. I even got to do the big kid slides a few times (thanks Kirsten for keeping an eye on the monkeys).
Saturday turned out to be just as big of a party. We hit the Mecham reunion (that's my Mom's Mom's Dad's clan) up in Kaysville, had lunch and whole buffet of desserts (killer carrot cake Aunt Linda). The kids played on two big playgrounds with cousins and second cousins and first cousins once removed and probably some random kids that happened to live in the neighborhood while the adults heard sordid tales of how Great-great-grandpa and Great-great-grandma used to help my mom as a teenager to dress up like an adult so she could gamble in Vegas and occasionally meet Elvis.
Even after the festivities at the reunion, we just felt like we hadn't been festive enough for the day, so we headed back for a second dose of Arts Fest. The girls made some killer bird masks and wore them all over the place, trying their best to startle people and occasionally even succeeding. Little James thought the toddles zone at the art yard was the best part, with all the slides and teeter totters that he can get anywhere else, but in a much artsier environment.
